Jamie Woon

Jamie Woon; Not only the voice of an angel, but the face of an angel too. A sexy angel, mind.
Mankind has finally done it. They've found the ultimate combination of ethnicities;
28 year-old Woon is the product of a Malaysian Chinese Father, and a Scottish Celtic Mother.

I first discovered Jamie Woon on SB.TV's youtube.com channel. He performed an acoustic version of his song "Lady Luck", and from that point onwards I knew it was love. Woon released his début album Mirrorwriting on the 18th April 2011, and provides listeners with dulcet tones surrounded by some incredible instrumentals.

Expectations of Jamie's album were that of "kinda like James Blake?", and I think he's done fantastically well to decipher and eradicate this assumption. The BRIT school as churned out yet another star, and the song 'Gravity' reflects Jamie's ability to sing a ballad and harmonise amongst a dark, diabolical track. It's a glorious thing, and the bewilderment is insatiable as the album evolves. I heavily recommend anyone to buy this album, and not to be put off by the comparisons made of The XX and similar artists. Mirrorwriting is evidence Jamie Woon is able to stand on his own two feet in the competitive battlefield of indie/soul/electronic singer/songwriters.
